Don’t Leave Home Without Them: 4 Travel Essentials
Have you ever left for a long weekend in Atlantic City, or even a historical day trip to Harrisburg, and realized that you left your favorite pair of sunglasses on your nightstand or your water bottle filled with ice water in the refrigerator? Do you feel like you always forget something when you go on a trip?
I’ve been guilty of these mistakes, more times than I would like to admit, as I’m sure many of you have as well. Without these essential items, you feel unprepared or uncomfortable for your upcoming journey. In order to be as prepared as possible, and still be ready for an old fashioned good time, make sure to pack these four essential items for any trip you may embark upon.
Travel App: Take a wrong turn and your natural navigation skills just won’t cut it (mine always steer me in the wrong direction)? While maps or paper directions may be obsolete in today’s technology era, travel apps are the new accessory. Many smartphones have built-in maps or GPS capabilities that may aid in your immediate need for direction, but other apps, such as GoogleMaps and MapQuest, can be both lifesavers and timesavers. When it comes to travel, leave it to the professionals and take your travel app on all your ventures.
Sunscreen: While not all people become a prime shade of apple red in the blazing hot sunshine like myself, the exposure to the sun in the form of a bronzed tan can still be harmful to your health in the not-so-far future. You can even get sunburn on a cold, sunny day (yes, ladies and gentlemen, you can indeed)! Lather up with the sunscreen of your choice and keep those UV rays at bay. And don’t forget…even though you may be having oodles of fun laying out on the sand and reading a trashy romance novel, you must reapply to avoid those ever so painful sunburn days to come. You’re welcome in advance!
Cell Phone Charger: I cannot tell you how many times I was left high and dry without my cell phone charger. To me, it was like I forgot to put on pants before heading into work. While forgetting a phone charger isn’t as damaging to my reputation, and coworkers, as leaving my pants at home, it certainly can put someone in quite the panic. These days, not having the ability to communicate with others, check your email, or even text your best friend pictures of your vacation can really put some people on edge. So, do us all a favor and remember that little cord that will keep you calm, cool, and collected all throughout your journey.
Good Pair of Sneakers: I love a good pair of broken in flip flops just as much as the next person, but when you’re embarking on some local travel, such as visiting the Liberty Bell or heading to NYC for a long weekend of “shop til you drop” madness, you will always want to stick with your favorite pair of sneakers. Sneakers offer a vast amount of support for your feet and will definitely stay strong throughout your traveling. Trust me, your feet with thank you later. Your bank account, on the other hand, may not be so thankful…
